Isanti County Incomes

I thought it would be good to show where Isanti County is with average incomes. Minnesota incomes grew an average 5.6% and Isanti County grew at 3.1%. To put in another way 83% of all Minnesota Counties had faster average personal income growth. It looks worse when you adjust for inflation. The State is at 1.3% and Isanti County is at .01% "real" income growth when adjusted for inflation.

We are well into the budgeting process and as we have to deal with higher gas, insurance, employee and other, cost we need to realize our Taxpayers have no more money to give. We can not tax our way out of this - simply put we must continue to cut cost as we did last year.

Facts are stubborn things.

Thank you George! Thank you for sticking with the budget and not piling more on the tax payers.

You are comparing apples to oranges here. You say Minnesota incomes grew but on what level are you referring to? Is that the state level or the total of all Minnesota counties. How did the incomes grow for individual cities? How does Isanti compare to St. Francis or Cambridge? For that matter, how does Isanti county compare to other counties? I also wonder why the difference between your stated rate of growth for incomes and the adjusted rate for inflation is 4.3% on the state level and 3.09% for the county level. Facts are stubborn things and can cause many problems when they are presented in a distorted manner.

The comparision is apples to apples, the comparable data was for counties and all the couties do make up the state.

Yes it is an interesting question but not being privy to how they calculate the entire state vs individual county levels of inflation I can not answer that but it is the state's number.

There is no distorted manner. Are you privy to a secret income boom that everyone else is not aware of? What is your contention? That we are in good economic times and we should not worry about how much our citizens are taxed or how much the City Government Spends.

I know my opponent has run in the past on the platform of raising taxes, are you advocating that position.

My opponent has raised city spending from 2005 to 2006 by 31% and 2006 to 2007 by 20%.

To me this unacceptable and to the vast majority of City residents it is unacceptable.
