Excellent Economic News

We are working through half a dozen applicants for our special TIF fund. I am quite excited our economic development continues to add new businesses and jobs to our community. We have recently added 9 more businesses to our City adding to the 30 plus businesses we added in my first four years. As we move along the process in the next few months you will be hearing much more about these exciting developments.

I will leave no more comments on your blog. You think everyone is uninformed. I really feel sorry for you. May God have mercy on your soul.

Actually I try to keep people informed on what is happening from a City and Council stand point. Most meetings of the Council may have as many as 5 people in attendance. The City is running well and taxes have been cut or stayed flat each year I have been Mayor. When things are running well you do not get very many people in attendance.

This news is really great as it will lead to many more jobs and opportunities for our residents. We have been able to help 4 businesses with their exciting plans - two existing and two new ones.... we have several others we are still working on....

All this will be discussed at Council and EDA meetings in the coming months.... this is fantastic news coming during the Great Recession...

That is an odd epitaph you left me with but nothing can dampen the energy of our future progress....

Anonymous, your comments are very odd. Either you have no real point, you've not lived here long, or you can't resist the urge to post a comment that has no truth.

If it was not for Mayor Wimmer and his blog and all his other offers of communication with everyone, there would be a lot of people uninformed.

Way back before George, if you wanted to know what was going on, you had no choice but to attend the various meetings, its not like there was audio available for download or a blog to read or even minutes you could download and read.

If anything Mayor Wimmer has made it possible for more people to be informed via more options.

Not sure why you feel sorry for him, he is doing a great job running this city.

Lets hope these businesses also bring in jobs. We need to get to the point where the adult population of this town is greater during the day than it is at night. We can talk about new restaurants, better shopping, hotels and pharmacies all day but we will not get them here without bringing more good paying jobs into town. Glad to hear that we have applicants for the TIF funds.

Evercat has been a nice addition but we need about ten more of them.

Oh... I almost forgot... May God have mercy on your soul.

John,

The 4 businesses we have coming to town and expanding that I mentioned last night at the Council meeting will bring over 3 dozen new jobs along with existing jobs with the majority paying over $50,000.

Your point is right on about bringing in a hotel or other such businesses. We need a strong commercial/industrial tax base to provide the good paying jobs that can support our families.
