City Council and County Commissioner Audio

If you can not make it to the Isanti City Council meetings our City records and post our meetings on our City Website. Listen at

http://www.cityofisanti.us/govern_citycouncil_audio.php

The County Board does not record their meetings but 3rd District Commissioner Duff does record and post the full audio of their meetings on his website at:

http://www.alanduff.net/

Most of our residents can not make it to meetings and the newspapers only have so many column inches to report on public meetings. Having the audio of meetings is an extremely cost effective way to make local government transparent.

Thank you George and Alan for making sure that these meetings are available via the web for all of us. I do not understand why the County Board is so stubborn on recording their meetings. If everything is being conducted in a ethical and professional manner why are they afraid of? I know that Mr. Duff spent his own money on a recorder to be able to accomplish one of his campaign goals of making county government more transparent.

George, I just listened to parts of both meetings and was surprised to hear the County Board shot down private funds for a Great Yard program similar to the city's program. They were saying it was illegal and that our county does not have any problems with poor yard conditions or foreclosed properties. Is your great yard program legal and why is that any different than the county?

My Great Yard Award is of course legal and we will be starting the third year of this award. I do not know the details of the proposal for the county wide one but I will ask the County Attorney why it was thought the county version not legal.

A county great yard program may be legal, but it is obviously not politically correct with the three good old boys/girl. Amazing how the private sector wants to help improve our shrinking property values and our commissioners want nothing to do with that. Maybe if there was a proposal to give themselves a 3% raise, buy themselves personal lap top computers at the tax payers expense or build themselves personal offices at the court house, they would agree - oh wait, they already did do that. No wonder why they don't want their meetings recorded for the public to hear. I'm so tired of our city taxes going down with George's tight budgets while our county taxes keep going up to support the country club.

I listened to this discussion and had to laugh when two commissioners said this was a good idea, then chose to vote against it. One commissioner was opposed to any business getting any credit for helping clean our area. Do these idiots wonder why we can't get businesses to this area? We need our chambers and business leaders to tell these bozos that positive recognition is not always a bad thing.

The leaders that push forward ideas or make changes are the ones that take all the punishment. Lead follow or get out of the way!!! George and Al are leading, the powers that be like the status quo.
