The Downside
I have been dealing with an unfortunate situation of a direct threat to my family and myself the last week. This is the downside of holding office. The anger and hatred of a few is focused on the leadership of the community. It saddens me this has to happen and that I have to consider whether or not serving the public is worth risk to my family. These types of actions drive good people out of office or from considering serving in the first place.

That is amazing someone could be so blinded by anger that they agree with death threats and the use of violence... pretty sad

That's a pretty asinine statement.
If you actually think that making threats to anyone who does not have the same beliefs as you is ok, there is something seriously wrong with you.

The people will not vote him out so we need to take him out!!! Now we have Lundeen in office we can take back our city if we can get rid of the idiot mayor. We put enough pressure on him or he "accidental" gets hit by a truck we win!!! Lundeen and Larson plus a new mayor we go back to having a city we own and control. If you don't like then quit and get the hell out of town!!!
How does this so called threat have anything to do with your family? It sounds to me like you're the problem! The way I heard the rumor is that you don't understand Latin very well, college boy. Take a deep breath,times are bad. It should all come out in the wash.
I understand the phrase very well.... Sic Semper Tyrannis Thus always to tyrants....
The words themselves are interesting but the political assassination history that travels with it is the sinister part... these words were said by Brutus as he was thrusting his dagger into Caesar and Booth is to have said them when he assassinated Lincoln...
It is said in this political context.... so again another person who blames me for receiving the threat along with years of derisive emails from the person...
The problem is the last words many say before a person goes violent is hey they would never hurt anyone... then something snaps and then they do.... You and others may find it funny or unimportant but my children have been video taped and harassed by another oh "he is not a violent person"... that person started to escalate things as well....
We have a great system ... you do not like someone vote them out of office.... it happens all the time... and if a person keeps winning elections then perhaps the complainers are the ones that continue to be wrong... not the office holder....

I don't recall the last "Mayor" that caused all this destruction and left for you to inherit to clean up receiving any threats!
Shame on the person harrassing your children but shame on you to continue exposing them to this. The children are the real victims here.
And another thing how dumb to go around advertising something like this on your Blog or your Twitter... Did you think you would get sympathy? I mean really??!! Don't look that way to me....
And this statement of yours:

This is where it gets ridiculous once again.... exactly what am I exposing my children too.... is your point that anyone with children should not serve their community...

a number of other Mayors in our immediate area have had threats and intimidation in the last few years including one whose family was assaulted in their home when a bat wielding man broke in...
I shine the light of day on information or threats or anything really... it is the best thing to do...
I am fascinated by this repeated comment of if you can not stand the heat stay out of the kitchen which leads us full circle to the intention of the threat... bully a person threaten them do whatever it takes to make them quite because you can not win at election time.... so you raise the heat so high you hope the person leaves... and if the person does not leave then the violence starts...
think about that... think about that statement and is it really the way a democracy should work... what if a person you liked was treated like this and driven from office by such nonsense....
stop giving these evil people a voice!!! no other official puts up with so much mean spirited attacks. sounds like this person would want you killed. how can he say it is your fault!!! why do people resort to such horrific actions?
bless you and your family and know we all support you and the hard work you are doing for this city. I am so saddened that you must sacrifice so much and then be attacked this way. i am sending you an email from my family, friends and neighbors so you know who you can count on.
George, It sickens me to see this happen to you and your family, people dont realize that anyone can run for office I challange anyone who has made these shitty threats to come forward and run in the next election. Although I was george's opponent in the last election I can honestly say no one should be put through the bullshit that you people think is ok to say, or do, to anyone that is running for public office shame on you for making comments about ones family or children that is NOT OK in any context. Rest assured that george is handling this way better than I would have! George if you or your family need any help with anything please let me know, I am here to help!
