Just another reason to move.

We have a 8 million dollar water treatment plant, numerous city wells, and a river that runs through town. We pay high prices for our water usage, have yearly odd/even restrictions, and now a complete watering BAN!! This is almost as pathetic as the "Dave Apitz city library" and getting excited about Mcdonalds coming to town.

Maybe when we get enough water to lift the bans and restrictions and bring some jobs to town that actually pay well enough to raise a family on, instead of all these low paying, part-time jobs that you have to have 3 of to raise a family. maybe then we will get excited about living here.

First there is no water treatment plant yet and the cost is expensive but not 8 million. The reason for the ban is that well #2 was down briefly this morning coupled with the high usage and lack of planning. The City should have had another well on line a few years ago...we are moving forward with a new well to handle the capacity needs.

McDonalds is not important because of the jobs but because it is a gateway business and will help foster future commercial growth along 65. The commercial district along highway 65 will pay a majority of our city's property taxes when it is developed.

Now for good paying jobs. This has been a high priority of mine. We have PAt's Small Engines bring a dozen jobs initially to town this fall paying an average of $14 an hour. This has been a good start over the $6 to $8 an hour of previous deals. The big one I have been working on is a bio-diesel plant that will bring in about a million dollars in payroll with the lowest paying job in the $35 an hour range.

I understand your frustration and I am working to put Isanti on the right course. Going the wrong way for so long makes the turn around all the harder.

Thanks for keeping us informed George! Keep up the great work!

What is the building over by the city compost site?? Seems to me it has something to do with city water, and came in well over budget a few years back.

The bio-diesel plant and lowest paying job being 35 an hour, sounds nice. What kind of schooling and experience will a person need to have?? (this way I can get started now on the schooling needed and maybe get a job there.) I cannot imagine that any $35 or more an hour job , is a no-experience,will train type of job. So in the end just how many citizens of Isanti will get a job at the plant??

I also would like you to know George that I do not blame you for the sins of the former Mayor and a couple of the present council members. (one of which i am stunned is still a council member after trying to steal our money)

I am just continually frustrated that after 20 yrs in the county 10 of which have been in the city of Isanti. It is still the same way on the job front. And that we still pay these HIGH taxes to live in a city that seems to want to have a home on every square inch of property within the city limits, and to hell with anything else needed to build a strong city/community.

It is very frustrating have to try to clean up the former mess before all the heavy lifting can be done to move us all forward.

The building is the waste water treatment plant.

Many of the jobs will be engineering related.

I am trying to lower our tax burden so businesses will want to locate here without us giving them everything free.....
