Announcing another Reform
The City Council will be discussing changes to our current nuisance abatement procedures. The current process takes months and months before we get to the point of ticketing and enforcement of City ordinances. Violators need to know the City is serious about keeping our community clean.
All our property values are at stake when property is allowed to fall into various stages of blight. The basic outline of the proposed change is as follows:
- nuisance is confirmed
- letter sent to offender giving 14 days to abate (clean up mess)
- if no compliance then a ticket is issued and the City will enforce the clean up

sounds good. on another subject, how is the parking ordinance project coming?
Excellent, I'm glad to see some movement towards helping put some teeth into the city ordinaces. Will the police be playing a role in the enforcement after 14 days?
The parking ordinace group is meeting again in two weeks to continue its work.
George, Is the citation a criminal citation or an administrative citation?
That is one of the questions we will be discussing.....it has ramifications on procedure....
How does this apply to all the developments with unsold houses and weeds everywhere during the summer?
Or is that an entirely different issue?
Yes, It needs to apply to everyone...developers and builders should not be given special treatment.
