Council Agenda March 20th

I wanted to share a few of the March 20th Council agenda items. You can see the full agenda at: http://www.ci.isanti.mn.us/vertical/Sites/%7BDDAE1093-5A2F-4061-B896-4E2183E27B6E%7D/uploads/%7B9CBA072A-F792-4EA4-9CDA-776F5DE5278C%7D.PDF

The first item is the response to a citizen letter and citizen requests to give input regarding CM Larson’s erroneous mileage reimbursement request. Citizens will finally be given a chance to publicly voice their opinions. The Council will also be given a chance to respond to a citizen letter and citizen concerns on this matter. I will also make a statement on this shameful and irresponsible act. I will explain how it has and continues to affect the city, the council and me personally. I will layout the two options the city has to put the destructive acts of a Council member behind us. One option clearly allows us to move forward and the other option will help limit the damage from past and current events and hopefully lessen the harm from any future incidents.

The Council will be making the final decision on a variance request for a pawn shop located near a daycare and an apartment building. The Planning Commission held a public hearing last Tuesday. The Council has received the meeting minutes from this hearing and will be making the final decision.
Several developer requests for plat approval with long term consequences for Isanti’s future.

The last two items are Community Center improvements and consideration of charging property owners snow removal from sidewalks per ordinance.
I will be writing more in the next few days.

The Isanti County News website story on Sue's credit card use has a couple comments. I want to weigh in and say this is terrible. How can we accept this behavior from our leaders. George is working to clean up our city's appearance both physically and ethicly in city hall. We need to support him and we need to tell the council to support him. He can not do it all by himself. If we do not stand behind George he will not last on his own.

I will be at City Hall to support you George. Sue please leave before it gets any worse.

I have not heard anything from any other council person. Have the two new guys said or done anything on this? My neighbors are going to the meeting Tuesday. I am trying to get off work so I can help out.

Lets try to get a big push in the next few days to get the Council to support George. Can we have a show of strenght here and contact the council. Go to the city website and get their contact info. Some will not do anything unless we make them understand how we feel. Stay strong George. We do support you.

I'm done with this city and the corruption and do nothing Council.

The council took the action they could. They could not remove Sue. Sue needs to remove herself. The council has changed from a corrupt do nothing council to a proactive council. It is not George against everyone like the few opinions here show. George is handling this professionally as a Mayor and the other council members are handling it professionally. However Sue needs to make the right decision and remove herself. If not she should be told by the residents. Let her know how we feel. Her e-mail is larssoffie@wmconnect.com

I would say that at least three of the council members showed that they still understand right from wrong and that people that cross the ethical line must be held accountable for their actions.

Thanks for looking out for the folks!

I have now lost all faith in Council Member Johnson as well. He basically stated last night that Larson's indescretions should be overlooked because of all of her community involvement.

So with that I guess that we should petition to change the Ten Commandments to read: Thou shall not steal. (Unless you do community service work)

You get the point.

Based on the comments that came out at the council meeting that appear to fly in the face of Larson's spin on the subject.

The Credit Union apparently verified that the card was mailed to City Hall's P.O. Box. Larson stated that it was sent to her house. Either she actually moved into the PO Box or possibly she was mistaken or confused.

The card itself was embossed with "City of Isanti". Larson stated that she thought that it was the Credit Unions way of acknowledging her seat on the Council. (I'm racking my brain her, but cannot remember the last time that I was sent a credit card without applying for it.)

I'm also somewhat surprised by the advice given by City Attorney Joslin to city officials regarding last summers credit card issue and his comments that it was basically not intentional.

If he actually bought into her line of BS, I am forced to question his judgement as well.

Your Council has taken this as far as they can without your help. The people that voted her in now need to ask her to leave. According to Dan Collison's post, he has started a petition that I would be happy to sign. Sign Dan's or start your own and then combine it with Dan's. The only way that she will get the message is if she gets buried in signatures.

Act now or hold your piece for the next three plus years because that is how long till the next election and your next chance to fix this problem!
