Meth-- Townhall Meeting
There will be a Meth Townhall Meeting Monday May 22nd, 7pm to 9pm. This meeting is free. The meeting will be held at the Richard G. Hardy Performing Arts Center at Cambridge-Isanti High School. Please call the Community Education Office at 763-689-6189 to register. Walk-ins are also welcome.
Meth and other drug use is a scourge to all of us, especially in Isanti County. I urge you to attend.

I don't think Job Z is as good as you think. North Branch has Anderson Window's and gave them Job Z. They bought almost 17 acres for one yes one dollar. They also pay property taxes on the open land not the present value of the land. As for jobs they brought over 33 people who were presently employed by them. In the three years they are here there is a total of 55 jobs with 33 being from previous employment. It was also said when they first came to the city that they wanted to "help" the city with donations.
Well the city applyed for a grant to help with lanscaping of its new library which it was denied. The city re-applyed and in the second year was granted $4,000. They don't tell you that they have given hundreds of thousands to a nursing home in a different city in the same county. The city also put in streets, infersturcture such as water, sewer, curb and gutter, storm sewer. The citizens subsizide other services such as police, public works ect...
They is no garentee that citizens from the city of North Branch or from the same county will get jobs.
Part of the thinking with haveing Job Z was that it is a big box to draw people in. Well they are in North Branch almost 3 years and have yet to get any more than usual new businesses or jobs then before using Job Z.
Jobz is a tool like any other tool. It should be an option as is TIC and MCCF and other such tools. If htey added 22 jobs in that one business they have added more jobs than the entire Isanti industrial park in the same period. Looking at the jobs being offered and the pay ranges it is higher than what is being paid by Isanti Industrial Park businesses.
There is never a magic bullet but using a combination of tools will help greatly.
