CM Duff running for 3rd District Commisioner Seat

Council Member Duff has just announced his candidacy for the 3rd District Commissioner seat. You will find his announcement at the Isanti County News site. That makes three known candidates.

Every one is leaving the council. Are you scaring them off.

Who else is running?

I think this is great news that Duff is running to represent both Isanti and Bradford Township on the county level. He campaigned on reducing taxes and followed through with it. He ran away with the last city council race and is much better than the good old boys club way of doing things. Nice to see that someone wants to reduce our county taxes and has a proven voting record to back it!

It is true that Duff voted in favor of the budget and tax cuts that George put together. He is the best one running for county commish so far.

What were the votes from the council race. I think he was first.

The three that have announced that I know of are CM Duff, CM Johnson and Gail Genin.

This is from my post Nov 2006 City election

Election Results

The results are in from Isanti City Hall as reported by the City Clerk.

Mayor's Race

George Wimmer ---864
David Apitz --------353

Council Race

Alan Duff----------478
Sue Larson--------347
Jeff Kolb----------334
Jim Kennedy------311
Steve Rask-------253
Dan Collison------253
Sean Stevens-----162

As for record votes matter. The regular readers of this blog know what I have worked to try to accomplish. CM Kolb and CM Duff were consistant during the budget and tax fight last year. It was a fight for those that do not remember.

We passed the preliminary budget and tax cut by 3-2 votes. CM Kolb and CM Duff voted for my budget and tax cut and if they had not been concerned about our fiscal future Isanti would be much worse off.

I am not at this time endorsing anyone and no one has asked me to endorse them. I am stating the facts.

The comments are correct that CM Duff voted to cut spending and taxes. I know I was there when it happened and it was not an easy thing to do. Saying no never is but it takes courage to do what is right even if it is not always the most popular.

I am excited that so many are interested in running for commissioner. We will get a great chance to look at each candidate and see what he or she has to offer the district.

Wow, I just looked at Duff's web page and he has a vision for the future of Isanti County that looks proactive in fixing some of the problems facing our county. Plus, I like that he served in the military for over 20 years. His record of public service is very impressive!

I will try this again and say that Duff and all the others trying for commissioner need to prove they can do the job. I am not trying to knock anyone.

I want to see Duff and the rest list out all the issues they think are important to us in Bradford. I am concerned it seems Isanti is trying to dominate us.

I heard the city is looking to expand this way.

Isanti just completed its Comp Plan and there is no mention or intent to expand into Bradford Township. There are two main reasons for this. One the cost would be incredible high to connect to our current sewer and water system as we would have to cross the Rum. The other main reason and even more difficult is the way the property has been subdivided. These large couple acre lots make it very inefficient to develop into city lots.

When city planning lines were initial proposed into Bradford I fought to get rid of them. I do not believe it is in anyones best interest that Isanti grow west of the Rum.

With Duff's family history in Bradford Township, I doubt he will forget their needs. In fact his familiarity with the needs of both the township and city seem to be a plus for representing their needs at the County level.
