I have served the City of Isanti as Mayor since 2007. We have accomplished great things together and I look forward to building on our success. United, we move forward to a better future. You may contact me at 763-442-8749 or e-mail me at george@georgewimmer.com.
We have a two fold problem with Isanti's drinking water.
First the issue of safety with the high levels of radium. This is currently being worked on by drilling a third well to "mix" the water. This is at best a short term solution.
The real solution will have to be to treat the water. Treatment will make it safer and help wit hthe second major water issue.
The "hardness" of the water. This also makes the water vertually unusable unless you buy an expensive water softener. We pay an extremely high price for our water. We need to make sure it is safe and usable.
I can not speak for anyone else. I am sure there are others but I am not sure I have seen anything written by anyone else but I am sure I heard some others discuss it but not sure who.
I requested that the city staff look into the cost of mosquito control at one of the budget planning meetings. Do we have an estimate yet on the costs?
We have cost that range from several hundred dollars per spraying to about a $1,000 per spraying......There was no other council support to get it in hte budget....I am looking at taking several items out in the final budget discussion in December and revisting this then.
when the City Of Cambridge goes out spraying it costs us, Public Works, for two trucks to cover the entire city including the wages is about $1,000 per night. if the city were to buy their own fogger it would not cost near the amount that it does Cambridge just because of the area covered is smaller and only one truck would be out, not two. there are several types of sprayers and checmicals out there to be looked at. i know from expeirence that the ones used by Cambridge are proven and easy to maintain at a very low cost.

What do you plan to do to improve the City of Isanti's drinking water?

Dan Collison talked to me about spraying mosquitos and that he'd push for it.
I looked at Dan's Website and he states there he supports mosquito control.

Seems like a no brainer to me. $1/person in the city. I spent 10 times that amount myself on zappers and bug spray for my family.
Steve Rask is in favor of mosquito control, too.
