Reform Isanti

I promise honest and fair City Government. We have an opportunity and responsibility to reform Isanti.

It is critical that members of the City Council and especially the Mayor not have financial ties to development. We must make sure every Citizen and Taxpayer, regardless of position, receives the exact same consideration from City Hall.

It is paramount the City Council and its Boards and Commissions establish and maintain the highest ethical standards. We must ensure our citizens the City Council’s decisions are not influenced by personal gain -- financial or otherwise.

If elected Mayor, I will fight for the strictest enforcement of Isanti’s Conflict of Interest Policy.

This November 7th you will have a clear choice between progressive reform or business as usual. Now is the time to make a choice for the future of Isanti.

Ask each candidate if they are tied to developers directly or indirectly. We can not have the fox watching the hen house.

I ask for your support in my efforts to reform Isanti. Together we must preserve Isanti’s Traditions while planning for the future.

To reform Isanti, Vote...

Wimmer for Mayor
Kennedy for City Council
Stevens for City Council

Duff works for an engineering company that works for developers including several in Isanti. How can that be fair? He should not be running for council with "integrity" as a slogan when he does not understand what it means. He will be just as bad as the 3 good ole' boys/girl that control the city now.

He should be honest and tell us the truth about his ties to development.

thank you George for giving me a chance to get the word out on this guy.

I know the mayor has a painting business and makes money from all the development but did not know about Duff.

How about running a campaign based on issues and not making judgements on people that you don't know anything about? If you have questions on a candidate why don't you use your own voice and ask the person directly. Does this City really need a current council member telling them how to vote and what to think about other people. As a life long citizen of Isanti I find this embarassing to our community that we are not intelligent enough to have a mind of our own. I also think it is very inappropriate for George to be endorsing City council canidates. He should worry about his campaign and not be trying to get his 'canidates' in City Council and just recreating what he says is so bad with the current council of having the 'good ole boys' club. Run a fair and upscale campaign and quit the mudsligging.

In response to Mr. Duff's criticism regarding "integrity" and fairness: I have known Mr. Duff for approximately 7 years, both personally and professionally. Suggesting he does not know what inetgrity means is the farthest thing from the truth. Mr. Duff has served us already as a member of the United States Military, with the highest integrity and respect, from both his peers and political figures. He did not acheive such status by not having integrity. I believe that the City would benefit from having an individual with private civil engineering experience. He knows what kind of challenges that growing cities such as Isanti experience. On a daily basis, Mr. Duff is an integral part of decision making within the engineering firm that is part of over 30 cities throughout Minnesota. Look at all of the municpal information he is able to gather and utilize in efforts to make Isanti a better place to live, work, and play. It may be wise to check the Planning Commissions voting records before labeling Mr. Duff as a "good ole boy" - I am not aware of any conflicts of interest. This is my own voice.....I leave comments on the blog unless they use profanity. I have left this comment along with many others that are critical of me. This is a forum for the exchange of idea and information. The ones ususaly critizes on my blog are the current Council Members.

You should remeber when a person runs for office there will always be some waiting to critize them justly or not.

When I post it is listed as "George said" with my picture.

I am endorsing candidates that I think will do a great job for the City of Isanti. There are a couple others running that I think would good as well.

There are one or two that asked me directly for my endorsement and help to run for officewhich I turned down. If you like we can have a discussion on that. I am sure those candidates would not be upset about an endorsement if I had supported them.

As for issues perhaps you have not seen the 12 items of the agenda I laid out for the City of Isanti. One of the underlying issues Isanti faces is ties to developers.

I want City Council members that have no tiee to deveopment. That is simply my opinion. Others may think it is just fine to have this I do not.

I just saw the last response.....I made the motion to get Mr. Duff on the Planning Commission because I wanted professional people on the PC. The issues we tackle can be quite complex and he has experience working with planning issues.

This is why I find it sad/amusing that someone seems to think I have targeted him. I have not Endorsed Mr. Duff but I have not targeted him either.

In 2004 I had people going to the houses i had signs at telling them I was lieing to them and convinced a few to take my signs down.

The joys of small town politcs never cease to amaze.

at least george tells us what he thinks and puts it in writing. he takes abused by the council, by developers and now by someone that thinks it is wrong for him to tell us who he supports. sorry duff got 1 bad comment that looks like he got 2 or 3 positive right after it. george even said he voted for him on the planning commission. if duff gets elected he better be tough enough to handle the job. if what happened to george is any preview he has a tough job to do

Thank you George for leaving the comments up here. The only way to make things better is to have these discussions.

As for endorsing and not endorsing candidates, I really don't care if George does or not. I'll judge each on their own merits. George has my vote, but I've met him and I can clearly see his agenda and his track record.

Kennedy I have not met but I am able to see what he does and does not do.

Stevens I know little about, but he does have a website where he is stating his objectives. I look forward to meeting him if he does the door to door thing.

I also do not know anything about Duff, and if not for the sign in a yard this morning I wouldn’t have know he was running. I also look forward to meeting him if he does the house to house thing.

Thank you anonymous posters for your commentary on Duff.

Tim,

Mr. Duff is my neighbor and I am sure he is tough enough. We have a lot of tough problems to fix in Isanti.

I am running against the current the Mayor not Mr. Duff who is seeking one of two Council seats.

My disagreements with Mr. Duff have been on a few city policies and there effects on the Citizens of Isanti. I have written about this on my blog several times.

I am sure Mr. Duff would be happy to answer any questions from the voters of Isanti as all candidates should.

Brian is correct that endorsements only go so far.....voters make up their own mind after listening to all sides...Brian has made the best points and with that I shall cease my comments on this issue...

George sorry I caused you so much grief today. Seems duff has a machine behind him. Win the Mayor's race and make sure the council obeys some ethics. Sorry for the headache and I did not know you live next door to this guy. I wonder if he will be voting for Apitz. When he comes to my door I will ask him.

Mr Wimmer,

Apparently, you are man who can do no wrong? Apparently, you are the
only one besides a few of your closest political allies (see other
websites that you plug) that can provide good for the City of Isanti.

While I can appreciate the marketing savvy of this website, you offer
very little insight to how your plan will help Isanti in the future
except slamming others. You apparently use tactics I best use as scary
to get people on your side.

Apparently, if you disagree with someone they are intolerable and
wrong. Isn't government about cooperation and coming to decisions for
the common cause, not your own personal cause? What drives me crazy
today about politics is the candidates who feel they need to rip others
instead of showing their true ability to lead the community.

Show us it's not politics as usual and sell your ideas without stomping
on others to make yours look so "darn" good. Sell us something new. How
about your intelligence over your tongue?

If this even makes your blog, it would be interesting.

You now posted this same item in two spots...I will respond again....I am also assuming you intend to say I do not comprimise with Mr. Duff...and of course the only issue he and I have differed on at this point is private holding ponds....here is my response.

This is a curious post Craig. Would you also think it wrong of Mr. Duff for not comprimising on his position.

I explain my position and votes for all to see and comment on. Everyone knows were I stand on the issues facing Isanti. If you do not agree that is fine...but instead of argueing a point as I did in my response to Mr. Duff's letter, you attack me personally.

I assume with your comments you either did not read my numerous postings or website or you have your own agenda.

Craig...read through the blog you will see many crticisms of me. I do not delete them. I use this blog to communicate with the Citizens of Isanti.

Also where exactly did I attack Mr. Duff

What are your trying to say with this paragraph? George lays out his agenda for everyone to see and question. Show me where I can find that information as quickly or at all for everyone else; the mayor, other council members, candidates (aside from Stevens). If they have websites, they need to get the word out so I can question them too.

If you question how an agenda item will benifit Isanti, ask George to clarify it.
